Having more than 300 telecom engineers, Pentalog works with the most important players in the telecom industry in order to help them meet telecommunication needs in all fields of activity, both in our daily lives and in our professional activities: classic networks (fixed telephony, internet, PCL etc.) or mobile networks (mobile telephony, mobile devices, communicating equipment (M2M), geolocation etc.).
As an example, smartphones and tablets will even exceed the number of PCs in 2011 (taking all operating systems together). Telecommunication needs will therefore skyrocket and even face congestion in a short while. The globalization of markets and the arrival of new operators render the market ultra-competitive, thus forcing equipment manufacturers to reconsider and continually develop their technologies, to innovate and renew their product lines.
Our clients, major companies and Telecom specialists, resort to us for :
freeing up internal resources in order to use them in the search for new products.
obtaining a better cost control in product development, testing and maintenance activities.
increasing the productivity and the level of services offered to end clients and also for internal processes.
A business expertise that is recognized by market players
Pentalog has developed a recognized expertise in the Telecom field, focusing on protocols, equipment, infrastructure, as well as on telecommunication-related services.
Protocols :
Bluetooth has become a standard feature, as it is integrated in almost 1.3 billion devices worldwide, 800 million of which are mobile phones. It enables to connect two devices like a mobile phone to a pair of loudspeakers, a handsfree kit to a car, a wireless headset etc.
Wifi has also become a standard feature, as it allows to make point-to-point connections (connection to a shared hard disk, a printer, a drone etc.) or to a hotspot in order to be connected to a network (internet through an ADSL box, for instance).
Customized RF (radio frequency) solutions are more and more used in solutions which do not require an interconnection with other solutions. Protocols are chosen according to the use and objective of the solution (example, use of Wavenis protocol in order to extend equipment battery life).
2G/2.5G/2.75G solutions (GSM/EDGE/GPRS) are still the favorite solutions on emerging markets thanks to the reduced costs related to the deployment of their infrastructures. 2.5G/2.75G remain the infrastructures with the best coverage, as they allow to offer Internet services (anywhere in the world) for ever more powerful devices at extremely affordable prices.
3G technology (UMTS, TD-SCDMA) has become a part of our daily lives, as it allows the convergence of data and multimedia services. Nowadays, the intensive deployment of 3G infrastructures throughout the world, as well as the diversity of features offered by mid-range and high-end mobiles has transformed the user profile: they are more and more demanding, they are used to connecting wherever they may be located by using any type of technology (3G, 2G, Wifi).
The first demonstrations of the pre-4G (3.9G or LTE) were made in 2009 (for the infrastructure part) and in 2010 for mobile receivers. Total IP convergence and the transfer speed brought by 4G (LTE Advanced) push manufacturers into a race of technological and economic innovation for launching the first commercial product.
Equipment :
Remote reading modules are more and more numerous, whether they are used in the field of energy, security, home automation, town planning or transport. Interconnection, supervision and security needs have become critical.
Smartphones and tablets will exceed the number of PCs in 2011, thus showing the keenness of private individuals and professionals to stay connected. This need goes even beyond this, as users want to be able to connect their mobile phones to their other devices: TV set (universal remote, more information on the current show etc.), car (car status, fixing appointments for maintenance, geolocation etc.), meters (water, electricity and gas), house (lighting, heating, alarm, refrigerator content), work etc.
Infrastructure :
IT network infrastructures are undergoing a revolution in order to meet CLOUD demands. Devices must be brought up to date.
Voice over IP offers numerous features: VoIP solutions – Centrex, hosted IPBX, dedicated IPBX, voice messaging, queues, call agents, on-hold music and call hold, call distribution, conferences
Services :
Consumer billing in the telecommunications field (subscription, package deal, prepaid etc.) is very complex and is evolving very fast.
Customer service is essential for ensuring a proper brand image and a quick responsiveness on these hyper-competitive markets.
OurApproach
In order to meet our customers' high expectations, our telecom experts undertake all efforts to guarantee :
quality / conformity of the end product (mobile phone, bank card reader etc.) in order to avoid returns which are financially burdensome and have a negative impact on the brand image,
fast time-to-market, i.e. the quick product market launch (in less than three months),
the ability to offer innovative solutions to the constraints and problems encountered,
continuous improvement of the cost/performance ratio,
the integration of existing technologies and new technologies (e.g. new types of peripherals),
the implementation of a follow-up system that is specific to the Telecom environment.
