Interview of Frédéric Lasnier
"The purchase of iNet should enable us to offer end to end solutions to customers, companies or organizations employing from 50 to 5000 people."
May 19, 2001 Frederic Lasnier
Pentalog High Tech has just taken control of the iNet start-up which specializes in the edition of automatic creation and management of portal web-sites solutions.

President of the board of directors, Frédéric L. states the strategic motivations of this take-over.

Aleth D. :
Pentalog High Tech announces the take-over of the iNet start-up. What are the strategic orientations of this purchase ?
Frédéric L. : We have been involved in the Inet file from its origins. We thought the edition of automatic creation and management of portal web-sites solutions was a real good opportunity to develop our range of associated services.

Aleth D. : What is the positioning of the Inet offer ?
Frédéric Lasnier : From what I know, and according to our benchmarking studies we carried out the last few months, there is not any portal creation solution available for Small and medium businesses. Customers have no solution but to invest in specific developments; they cannot capitalize on any reliable and standardized solutions.

Aleth D. : But there are Commerce One, Broad Vision, Net Portals, etc.
Frédéric Lasnier : Commerce One and Broad Vision do not deal with projects under $ 3 million. Net.Portal is a strong tool for contents' aggregation but it is not meant to be an application platform.

Aleth D. : What opportunity does this take-over represents for Pentalog High Tech ?

Frédéric Lasnier : So far, Pentalog High Tech has mainly been working for International firms. The purchase of iNet should enable us to offer end to end solutions to customers, companies or organizations employing from 50 to 5000 people and also to offer departmental solutions to International companies.

Aleth D. :
Would you define the main advantages of this product ?
Frédéric Lasnier : First of all, a complete Inter, Intra, Extra-net vocation. I mean that the iNet product enables to build a company web site database for either a one to one or a B to B solution or an intranet solution which creates a personalized work environment for users and provides him with the information he needs.

Secondly I would say that it is one of the rare solutions featured for crossed management of contents and access i.e. The Port offers security and traffic follow-up, but also improves the study of users' behavior in terms of information and publication needs with the help of artificial intelligence.

Finally, the integration of work-flows allowing content's publishing without the help of a web master restores the power of executive managers and generates an increase in the productivity of the information system, therefore the information process becomes faster and less expensive.

Aleth D. :
What is the advantage of this software in terms of costs of development for companies?
Frédéric Lasnier : The cost of service being reduced of 60% they will get a 40% discount on average compared to specific developments.

Aleth D. :
Is there any order already placed?
Frédéric Lasnier : So far, the solution has already been sold to 7 customers whose turnovers spread from 10 millions to 30 billions Euro, as a departmental portal or intranet B to B solution, two local partnerships are being discussed in France and in New-York. All these partners can profit from low-price development opportunities, by participating in the "The Port - Early Adopters" program.

Aleth D. :
Is it the reason of your latest business trip in the United-States ?
Frédéric Lasnier : Yes. We have been presenting The Port - the name of the product - in New-York and in the Silicon Valley where substantial projects are being studied.

Aleth D. :
What about Quid by Pentalog ?
Frédéric Lasnier : Pentalog High Tech will be a The Port 's application developer partner, as some others will be ASP or integrator.

Aleth D. :
Official launching of the product ?
Frédéric Lasnier : The 14th September at midnight, the first pack will be deliverable.
