Employed as an IT Technician to provide 1st and 2nd Line support to students, academia and staff using the 1600 school-owned desktops, laptops and mobile devices across the campus.
Responsibilities • Work in a team of 3 technicians under the supervision of a team leader, respond to user requests over the telephone, email and ticketing system • Build hardware-independent OS images by injecting multiple sets of drivers, covering all the hardware used throughout the campus • Use Fog Imaging and Microsoft’s SCCM to remotely deploy operating systems via multicast to desktops • Perform testing on software in preparation for OS migration • Migrate 400+ workstations from Windows 7 to Windows 10 Education • Prepare Surface 4 Pro tablets for deployment in classroom environment by updating to latest BIOS firmware, drivers and testing Wi-Fi, mirroring and input functionality and software testing • Software scripting and testing for unattended deployment • Use SCCM to deploy various software packages (based on AD hierarchy) • Upgrade school-owned laptops to SSD drives by cloning existing disk drives and restoring to SSD. • Salvage memory from recycled laptops and supplement to remaining ones. • Administer Active Directory (Server 2008 & 2012) and Exchange 2010 on-premises, adding/removing users, assigning permissions to security groups, creating email distribution groups, applying computer restrictions via group policy • Diagnose network faults – find & replace faulty cables, re-crimp broken LAN sockets, patch network sockets to switches, re-configure switch ports to carry correct VLANs, re-install NIC drivers • Deploy and manage network printers via two print servers, manage print queues, assign printers to users (JS2PRT)
