Join our project for a client - a prestigious multinational bank - as a Backup Engineer. You will be part of a dedicated team responsible for monitoring and managing the backup infrastructure across Europe. This role requires expertise in providing Level 2 support during both business and non-business hours. As a Backup Engineer, you will be responsible for installing and configuring backup related tools and software; commenting on installation manuals and procedures; reviewing and suggesting improvements to existing procedures; performing functional tests on newly installed components based on written test cases; occasionally providing on-call support out of hours and documenting activities in clients’ tools.

This role requires a willingness and availability for on-site (hybrid mode) work as needed and providing on-call support when required from the Bucharest office.

Job requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in backup activities;
  • Basic proficiency with at least one of the following tools: IBM TSM, Dell Data Domain, CommVault, Veritas;
  • Experience with operating systems (Windows and Linux) and virtualization;
  • Basic understanding of storage infrastructure;
  • Familiarity with backup infrastructure tasks such as installing and configuring backup agents, using LAN-free backup, and analyzing/diagnosing malfunctions etc.;
  • Ability to generate clear and comprehensible reports on your activities;
  • Proficient in following written instructions and procedures;
  • Skilled in updating documentation and implementing existing practices;
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to provide constructive feedback;
  • Strong teamwork abilities, promoting collaboration and cooperation;
  • Demonstrated respect for procedures, maintaining focus on assigned responsibilities;
  • Adherence to team schedules and proactive approach to tasks;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English. Knowledge of French is a plus.
     

Responsibilities

  • Monitoring and management of alerts, first-level intervention in accordance with instructions, assurance of the infrastructure's proper operation, and modifications to the production environments;
  • Control over all backup infrastructure;
  • Ensure the services are provided in accordance with the Service Contracts that our client has;
  • Level 2 support: handling and addressing L2 incidents, responding to incidents, improving incident reports and knowledge base;
  • Set up new incident reports and procedures;
  • Track down persistent issues and open issue tickets;
  • Client Relationship: in accordance with the Service Contract, convey modifications, incidents, and a description of the service quality to the clients;
  • Log L2 incidents, troubleshoot them, and offer solutions;
  • Follow up on open incidents according to agreed-upon SLAs;
  • Open tickets with third-party suppliers;
  • Follow-up incidents with third-party suppliers;
  • Escalate to higher support levels if the incident can't be resolved.
