Since 2018, one of the biggest online-only used car dealerships has used their platform to revolutionise the process of purchasing, financing, or renting pre-owned vehicles.

Our partner is currently looking for a Data Analyst to work within an analytics team, focused on supporting the wider business. You will collaborate closely with key commercial stakeholders as well as technology teams and other analysts to solve key business problems, enable the business to make better decisions and report on the progress of the team's work.

This role will focus in particular on pricing and purchasing analytics, looking at the beginning and end of each vehicle's journey, from evaluating 1000's of vehicles a day. The aim is to buy the very best vehicles, optimising the list prices of vehicles, taking into account multiple factors and using machine learning where and when it's possible.
 

Job requirements

  • Proficient in writing SQL and working with SQL databases;
  • Experience presenting data in a compelling manner by utilizing BI and visualization tools, particularly Looker or Tableau;
  • Proven experience working with data warehouses such as BigQuery, Redshift or Snowflake;
  • Experience in implementing standard software engineering practices including version control using Github or Gitlab;
  • Previous exposure to the data transformation tool DBT;
  • Programming experience, especially in Python or familiarity with terminal commands;
  • Adept at comprehending the analytical requirements of stakeholders, with the capacity to delve into necessary outputs and outcomes;
  • Enthusiasm and flexibility to learn new programming languages and tools;
  • Strong problem-solving abilities;
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across functions, disciplines and hierarchies;
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or an equivalent qualification;
  • Proficiency in English.
     

Responsibilities

  • Working closely with key stakeholders and other data analysts to define analytical projects that solve business problems and own projects from initial inception to final delivery;
  • Developing an in-depth understanding of the diverse data sources available and working with key stakeholders to generate relevant metrics, KPIs and dashboards to support decision making;
  • Exploring data creatively by utilizing quantitative abilities to drive actionable insights;
  • Sharing findings and actions with business and technical audiences while collaborating across functions to guarantee timely implementation;
  • Gaining valuable insights to enhance the purchasing and pricing strategies, such as identifying underperforming vehicle groups and highlighting areas for improvement; then share these insights with the commercial and Data Science teams to ensure effective implementation of the improvements.
