Our client and partner, a major player in the online pharmacy, marketplace and professional healthcare sectors with strong brands in Germany and other European countries, is looking for a DevOps Software Engineer. Your role will be to develop and innovate ways of observing and interpreting data to drive business decisions and ensure optimal performance and reliability of the cloud infrastructure.

As a DevOps Engineer, your extensive experience in monitoring and observability, with a focus on utilising Datadog, will help the team create insightful, business-focused monitoring dashboards.
 

Job requirements

  • At least five years of experience in DevOps, Cloud Engineering or similar roles with a specific focus on monitoring and observability.
  • Strong experience in the implementation, management and optimisation of Datadog environments. 
  • Previous experience in building sophisticated, business-oriented monitoring dashboards and alerting systems.
  • Hands-on experience with the GCP cloud platform and relevant technologies (e.g., Containers, Kubernetes, Microservices).
  • Expertise in scripting languages including Python, Shell or similar.
  • Skilled in utilizing CI/CD pipelines to automate deployment and scalability.
  • Solid understanding of network, application and infrastructure monitoring techniques and technologies.
  • Strong English language skills.
     

Responsibilities

  • Develop, manage and optimise monitoring, logging and observability pipelines using Datadog and potentially other similar platforms.
  • Design and implement stable, business-oriented monitoring dashboards that provide real-time insights and proactive alerts to relevant stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with business, operational and engineering teams to identify significant metrics and KPIs, ensuring alignment with organisational objectives and customer expectations.
  • Facilitate knowledge sharing and training sessions to enhance the monitoring and monitoring capabilities of internal teams.
  • Regularly review and optimise monitoring alert rules to minimise noise and improve problem detection.
  • Participate in initiatives for continuous improvement by assessing the efficiency and effectiveness of existing operations and implementing improvements.
     

Extra skills

  • Certifications in Datadog, AWS, Azure or GCP.
  • Experience in other monitoring and observability platforms such as Prometheus, Grafana and Splunk.
  • Proficient in ITIL frameworks and incident management procedures.
