We are seeking a SQL Database Administrator to join our client, a French multinational universal bank and financial services holding company. You will be responsible for administering SQL Server databases in a European scope, ensuring stability, resilience, and performance.

Collaborating with the Level 2 IT Engineer team, your role includes monitoring, optimization, security, troubleshooting, and backup/ recovery. Strong SQL Server administration skills, attention to detail, and effective communication are key in this dynamic environment.

This role requires a willingness and availability for on-site (hybrid mode) work as needed and providing on-call support when required from the Bucharest office.
 

Job requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in SQL Database Administration or a similar role;
  • Very good knowledge of MS-SQL infrastructures (2012 to 2022), including administration, maintenance, and troubleshooting;
  • Expertise in High Availability environments, particularly SQL Server AlwaysOn;
  • Experience in delivering strategic priorities within strict timelines, managing multiple tasks and projects simultaneously;
  • Desirable knowledge of ITIL Foundation principles, understanding the importance of IT service management best practices in the database administration context;
  • Ability to understand and follow written instructions and procedures;
  • Proficiency in updating existing documentation and procedures;
  • Proactive approach to problem-solving and taking initiative;
  • Strong teamwork and collaborative skills, working effectively with cross-functional teams to develop and deliver appropriate solutions;
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both oral and written. Knowledge of French is a plus.
     

Responsibilities

  • Regularly monitor SQL databases and proactively manage capacity to ensure optimal performance and resource utilization;
  • Implement and maintain backup and recovery strategies to safeguard data and ensure business continuity;
  • Conduct in-depth analysis of SQL database performance, identify areas of improvement, and implement optimizations to enhance efficiency and response times;
  • Design and implement new database and server architectures based on business requirements;
  • Build and configure SQL Server instances, ensuring optimal performance, security, and scalability;
  • Provide expert guidance and support to application teams, offering insights and recommendations for optimizing database usage;
  • Promptly respond to and resolve database-related incidents and service requests
  • Ensure proper change management practices are followed for database modifications, including thorough testing and documentation.
