Our client, a US company with an on-demand car rental app, is on a mission to providing the best delivery service of its kind, by committing to relentless customer centricity, technology-powered operational excellence, and capital efficiency. 

With their rapidly growing series A technology platform, the startup aims to brings magic and seamless delivery into the experience of getting a car in cities. The client is looking for a Senior Back-End Engineer with a similar “you build it, you run it” mindset, to join their platform ops team.

On this project, the engineering teams work in weekly Scrum sprints, and are shipping code to production (AWS) several times per day using Gitlab CI/CD.

The backend is written with Python using Flask and PostgreSQL, while the frontend is written with Typescript using React and React Native. 
 

Job requirements

  • Bachelor/ Master’s degree in Computer Science, related field or equivalent technical Experience.
  • Proven experience in delivering multiple complex systems that required integrating with two or more services owned by other teams.
  • Experience in delivering microservices with 99.9% or better SLA.
  • Proven primary owner for multiple projects from conception through planning and customer delivery.
  • Involved with requirements gathering with to ensure what is being built is aligned with expectations.
  • Knowledge of at least one CI/CD system.
  • A true team player;
  • Good communication and very good English language skills.

Responsibilities

  • Work on high-impact projects and innovate new solutions to provide the best rental experience possible.
  • Define the architecture roadmap to support the long-term product vision.
  • Identify, discuss, document and communicate technical improvements within your area of responsibility.
  • Support, improve and reinforce Backend/Engineering standards and guidelines.
  • Work cross functionally with Engineering, Product, Operations, Finance, and other teams as applicable.
  • Leave the code in a better state than when you found it (progressive refactor).
  • Drive improvements in our code base through code reviews and knowledge sharing across team boundaries.
  • Coach and onboard team members.
     

Extra skills

  • Experience architecting microservices (Go, Python) and workflows (Temporal) at Scale.
  • Experience with geospatial data, processing and time series analysis.
  • Experience with image processing and basic quality control for imagery.
  • You’ve built and improved on database architectures, data warehousing/lake solutions, or related tech.
  • Experience with containerization (eg., Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Experience with graph db/NoSQL db such as Neptune, Cosmos or Neo4j is a plus.
