When?

January 27-29 2017

Where?

Caisse d’épargne Loire-Centre, in Orléans (France)

Organizer?

PENTALOG, of course! For quite some time now, Pentalog has been actively supporting events that bring together entrepreneurs, aspiring entrepreneurs and startup enthusiasts passionate about the latest technologies. Either they have a technical, design or business background, they are all there to put their ideas to the test. See how one can wisely choose their partners, build a minimum viable product and finally launch their own startup. Sounds great, doesn’t it? People that have out-of-the-box ideas and want to share them with the world. People that are good team-players, eager to turn mistakes into opportunities and get valuable feedback from industry leaders and local entrepreneurs. People who know how to have fun but who also take their work very seriously. People like us!

Why?

To invent new uses of the blockchain technology and offer new security tips for data traceability, data inviolability, data confidentiality and highly secured transactions. We have to learn how to take full advantage of the blockchain opportunities: smaller operating costs and increased profitability, micropayments, cheaper transactions and consumption microcredits. The main fields blockchain applies to: transfer of assets, identity confirmation and automated contract or transaction execution.

How did it go?

Like a charm! The whole idea of this startup weekend was to encourage people to take risks but without being affected by these risks.

Friday night Welcome speech followed by a presentation of the weekend agenda and the introduction of the speakers, coaches and community leaders. The 37 blockchain geeks (out of the 45 registered) who attended the event took turns in pitching their ideas and convincing the others to vote for them and join their team. Participants were then given the chance to share ideas, practice pitches and get to know each other over dinner. After teams were formed, everyone thought about how they could better use their personal resources and skills to help their team win this use game.#swblockchain-welcome-speechSaturday A workspace was set up for the teams to start working on their MVP. All day long was about customer development, idea validation, the use of LEAN startup methodologies and building a minimum viable product. Everyone who needed help was assisted by a coach, who timely intervened to remove impediments. The atmosphere was intense, ideas were exchanged, and things were learned.#swblockchain-workspaceSunday The last chance to ask questions during the first part of the day. Innovated fields: CSR, smart contracts, secure transactions, cloud computing, private blockchain, infrastructure. The teams spent their second part of the day on perfecting their presentation. After seeing the prototypes and offering their feedback to the Weekend Warriors, our expert jury voted 8 out of the 15 pitches:1. Empower: on-site point-to-point cloud2. Coot: support for divorced couples3. BlockGraine: traceability of resources from producer to processor4. Agicité: signatures and votes for the general assemblies of mutual institutions5. OpenProcurement: anti-corruption system for public tenders6. S4U: microcredits7. Diphylleia: accreditation of CSR practices8.
