About the client

Neobrain is a platform that combines new technologies and human resources expertise.

Its mission: to help companies adapt even faster by mapping their internal skillsets for allocation to the right project.

Groupe Renault and Deloitte were among the first customers. Other prestigious names followed, including Moët Hennessy and Bosch.

Created in 2017, the startup raised 3 million euros in 2020 to strengthen the development of the platform and its international expansion.

The challenge

To support its scalability, Neobrain wanted to expand its teams, looking for two profiles that are very popular on the market: data scientists and full-stack developers.

For startups, speed is a key element in success. This is why Neobrain has chosen freelancing, because for CEO Paul Courtaud: “to move up from one level to another, it is valuable to quickly access freelance expertise that can be mobilized in a few days.”

IT Freelancing

The solution

To stay focused on its core business and meet the need for speed, the Neobrain startup opted for freelancing and works with Pentalog.

In fact, the process has been designed to facilitate and accelerate collaboration between companies and freelancers:

  1. Selecting the best profiles from among the 40,000 IT freelancers registered on Pentalog
  2. Assessing their technical skills through IT tests created in-house
  3. Evaluating their relational skills via an individual interview with a Pentalog consultant
  4. Sending three profiles to the client and organizing the final interviews
  5. Handling administrative and contractual support upon validation of the freelance tech

For Paul Courtaud, “The key point is to be able to count on a good selection – and to have an intermediary to say when things are not going well. This is valuable because it avoids wasting time when you are growing. You want to focus on the core of your business.”

The results

While traditional recruitments take six to nine months, Neobrain welcomed four new freelance developers in just one month.

With their high level of skills, they were operational almost immediately, after only one to three days of onboarding.

At this time, eight developers and a freelance Product Manager are working for Neobrain, which now relies on hybrid teams that mix employees and IT freelancers.

Paul Courtaud freely concurs that they are now an integral part of the company. Without them, he continues, “there are contracts that we would have had to turn down. Freelancing has allowed us to gain opportunities to continue to grow.”
