In the role of an AS400 Operator, your primary responsibility will be to effectively manage and ensure the optimal functioning of the AS400 system. This involves performing a range of technical tasks necessary for maintaining, monitoring, and operating the AS400 system. Your goal will be to guarantee the smooth and uninterrupted operation of all system activities.
 

Job requirements

  • Demonstrated experience as an AS400 Operator or in a similar role;
  • Thorough understanding of AS400 systems, encompassing system administration, job control language (JCL), and system utilities;
  • Familiarity with system monitoring tools and diagnostic techniques;
  • Proficient in troubleshooting and resolving system-related issues promptly;
  • Meticulous attention to detail and adherence to standard operating procedures;
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities;
  • Capable of working both independently and collaboratively within a team;
  • Willingness to work flexible shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Proficient in English;
  • French nice to have.

Responsibilities

  • Continuous System Monitoring: Your role will involve constantly keeping an eye on the AS400 system to identify any potential issues, errors, or failures. This will include regularly monitoring system performance, analyzing system logs, and promptly addressing any alerts or notifications that arise;
  • Scheduling and coordinating batch jobs and system backups. This will involve managing job queues, prioritizing job requests, and troubleshooting any job-related challenges that may arise;
  • Performing routine system maintenance tasks and assisting with software/hardware installations. This will include applying system updates, patches, and fixes to keep the system up to date. Additionally, you may assist in the installation and configuration of new software or hardware components as required;
  • Providing user support and troubleshooting system-related issues. This will include troubleshooting problems reported by users, identifying the root causes, and offering appropriate solutions or workarounds to resolve the issues effectively;
  • Maintaining accurate system documentation for reference and training purposes.
