Our client is a global market research company that specializes in advertising, loyalty, marketing, media, and public affairs market research. As part of this role, you will have the opportunity to collaborate with colleagues from various locations around the world.

For this role of an API Manager with specialized knowledge in Apigee (AWS/Azure alternatives are also ok), you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and overseeing our API platform to facilitate smooth integration and collaboration among our teams. Also, you will have a key role in establishing API strategies, developing API solutions, and ensuring the security, scalability, and performance of our APIs. You will work closely with various teams such as software development, architecture, security, and operations to establish API governance, standards, and best practices.
 

 

Job requirements

  • Experience in API management, with a focus on creating the context for teams to design and implement API products in Apigee (AWS/Azure alternatives are also ok); 
  • Extensive hands-on experience with Apigee Edge or Apigee X, including configuration of API proxies, API design, implementing security policies, creating documentation, managing traffic, and utilizing analytics;
  • Solid understanding of RESTful API design principles, API security standards such as OAuth and JWT, and best practices in API management;
  • Proficiency in scripting and automation using languages like JavaScript, Python, or Bash;
  • Familiarity with cloud technologies like Google Cloud and containerization tools such as Docker and Kubernetes are a plus;
  • Experience with backend technologies or programming languages is also valued;
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders;
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with meticulous attention to detail and a dedication to continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development, design and implementation of our API platform using Apigee, ensuring that it aligns with our business objectives and meets our technical requirements;
  • Define and implement API strategies, that encompass API versioning, lifecycle management, security, and monetization, with the goal of driving business value and fostering innovation;
  • Architect and implement API solutions and products that cater to the needs of both internal and external stakeholders, while prioritizing scalability, reliability, and performance;
  • Help establishing API governance processes, standards, and best practices to ensure consistency, security, and compliance across all APIs;
  • Shared ownership of our API platform with Product Manager roles.  
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to establish API requirements, design API specifications, and execute API integrations with both internal and external systems;
  • Monitor and analyze API usage, performance, and security metrics, and proactively implement measures to optimize API performance and mitigate security risks;
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to development teams regarding API design, development, and best practices, fostering an API-first development culture;
  • Stay up to date with emerging technologies, trends, and best practices in API management, cloud computing, and digital transformation, and incorporating them into our API strategy.
